Once more, the Maritime Terminal of Quintero makes Oxiquim proud for receiving two awards from ASIQUIM (Chilean Chemical Industries Association): the "2007 Asiquim Responsible Care Award", for its successful auditing process regarding the Responsible Care program, and a special award for "Clean production". The special award was granted after the IMO (International Maritime Organization) recognized the Terminal as a port reception facility for bilge waters (oily wastes generated in machinery space of ships), aiming at avoiding the discharge into the open sea.

Both awards were granted on 23 August, Asiquim’s Environment Day, established ten years ago. In this occasion 142 chemical plants were audited. The process consists in the company being assessed by an audit team in order to verify whether it is committed to the Responsible Care principles.

In this opportunity, Oxiquim was the company that registered the highest levels of compliance, as the audit team observed in the field the compliance of Responsible Care principles in its productive, logistics, and operative functions as well as in the behavior of its personnel.

Oxiquim S.A. hosts the 9th Latin American Logistics Meeting of the Latin American Petrochemical and Chemical Association (APLA), which is taking place at Hotel del Mar in Viña del Mar, Chile, between 13 and 15 June.

The first day concluded with a welcoming dinner hosted by Oxiquim at Hotel Yachting in Quintero, where delegates from Venezuela, Brazil, Argentina, Peru and Chile tasted delightful seafood, along with the finest wines of Chile.

The goal of this forum is to provide a meeting point for chemical and petrochemical companies and logistic service providers, where logistics issues of significance and interest for the industry of the region are discussed in lectures and working groups.

Since 1980, APLA, based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, has been promoting exchange and cooperation among companies, fostering the development of the Chemical and Petrochemical Sector.
